Purpose
The Utah School Employees Association (USEA) Outstanding Education Support Professional (ESP) Service Award recognizes the contributions that Education Support Professionals make towards their schools, communities, and professions. The award is presented annually to a USEA member who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments and reflects the contributions of ESPs to public education and student success.
Award
Each spring, one nominee from each of the following job categories: Custodial Services, Technical Services, Security Services, Skilled Trades/Maintenance Services, Transportation Services, Health/Student Services, Clerical Services, Food Services, and Paraeducators will be presented with the USEA Outstanding ESP Service Award at the annual USEA Awards Banquet. The recipients will receive recognition and a plaque at the annual USEA Awards Banquet. Recipients will also receive recognition on the USEA website and social media platforms.
Automatic Nominations
Recipients of the USEA Outstanding ESP Service Award will be automatically nominated for the USEA Education Support Professional of the Year Award. One nominee will be presented with the USEA ESP of the Year Award at the Annual Awards Banquet. The recipient of this award will be publicly recognized through social media platforms, newsletters, emails and on the USEA website for his/her accomplishment. The recipient’s school district will be notified of the award as well. USEA’s ESP of the Year Award recipient will be submitted to the National Education Association (NEA) for nomination of the NEA ESP of the Year Award for the following year and will attend the NEA ESP Conference for that year, at the Associations expense, which is held in the spring of each year. The recipient may also be nominated for the Utah URISE Award.
Recipients of the USEA ESP of the Year Award will be asked to be an ambassador for USEA by assisting with ESP issues throughout the year.
Eligibility
All active members of USEA, who have been an active USEA member for at least three years as of December 31, are eligible.
Deadline
All nominations must be completed and submitted to USEA by 11:59 p.m. MST on March 2, 2026. Nominations submitted after this date will not be considered for the award.
