Lifetime Membership Award

The USEA Lifetime Membership Award honors active or retired members who have shown exceptional dedication and service to Education Support Professionals and the mission of USEA across Utah. Recipients are recognized at the annual USEA Delegate Conference with a plaque and certificate and receive lifetime voting rights and waived state and national dues. USEA employees are not eligible.

Purpose

The Utah School Employees Association (USEA) Lifetime Membership Award recognizes the contributions of active members of USEA who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the members of USEA and Education Support Professionals (ESPs) throughout the state of Utah and within their local. 

Award

Recipients of the Lifetime Membership Award will receive recognition, a plaque and a certificate attesting to his/her Life Member status at the annual USEA Delegate Conference and will receive recognition on the USEA website and social media platforms. The recipient is entitled to all the rights and privileges of active members of USEA including lifetime voting rights at the annual Delegate Conference. Current members will have their State, and National dues waived for life. 

Eligibility

Any active or retired members of USEA. Employees of USEA are not eligible.  

Deadline

All nominations must be completed and submitted to USEA by 11:59 p.m. MST on March 2,  2026. Nominations submitted after this date will not be considered for the award. Email is the preferred method for submission.

Nomination and Selection Procedure 

Nominations: Nominations must be submitted by the deadline and must be submitted on the approved nomination form with signatures of the nominator and the Local/State President, Vice President or Secretary Treasurer. 

Selection Process: The USEA Awards Committee shall consider all nominations received by the deadline. The committee will use the criteria below to score nominees. The committee may contact the nominator for further information if needed to determine finalists. The committee will notify the USEA Executive Board of the number of nominations received. The USEA Executive Board shall consider all nominations and take action to approve how many awards will be presented. The committee will present nominees to the delegates at the Annual USEA Delegate Conference for consideration. 

Award Criteria: The USEA Awards Committee will base its selection on the following criteria: 

• Long-term Involvement: Specific actions that demonstrate sustained commitment to USEA. 

• Exceptional Service: Specific actions that demonstrate going above and beyond expectations in supporting ESPs. 

• Demonstration of Values: Specific actions that provide evidence of actively supporting USEAs governing principles and contributing to USEAs growth and visibility. 

• Mentorship: Specific actions that provide evidence of guiding new or emerging leaders within USEA and contributing to the development of its future. 

• Legacy-building: Specific actions that provide evidence for leaving a lasting impact on the members of USEA, whether through foundational work or creating an enduring legacy that continues to benefit members of USEA. 

• Recognition by Peers or Members: Supporting documentation of strong endorsements from other members of USEA and for being widely respected and admired within the USEA for their contributions, with a clear acknowledgement of their ongoing positive influence. 

Notification: Lifetime Membership recipients will be announced at the annual USEA Delegate Conference. Recipients of the award will be invited to attend the USEA Delegate Conference at the expense of USEA. 

Submittal Requirements: Nominations must be complete and submitted to USEA by 11:59 p.m. MST on March 2, 2026. Nominations received after this date will not be considered for the award. A complete nomination package shall include the following award requirements: 

• A complete Nomination Form, including the: 

  • Nominee Information
  • Nominator Information
  • Local/State Leader Information
  • Signatures of the nominator and a Local/State Leader 

• Supporting documentation highlighting the specific actions that provide evidence of meeting the award criteria. Supporting documentation may include: 

  • Letters of recommendation 
  • Written statements (must be typed, not handwritten) 
  • Any other supporting documentation that shows evidence of meeting the award criteria.
